Articles about Auction Sites in Computer Active

Hi

I'm a casual reader of 'Computer Active' magazine - they have done a couple of articles over the last few months about using internet auction sites - I'm afraid its EBay that is the site they write the articles about - what to expect - how to use - etc.

No mention of EBid

Shame about that - Computer Active is a widely read and respected magazine.

Perhaps eBidders could bombard them with questions about eBid - they would probably do an article if there were enough people asking about it.

Am wondering - has Ebid sent out press kits to all the major internet/computer magazines? Something with an interesting angle or just points to highlight what's unique about Ebid. (and their are many things!)Generally, a press kit to show computer magazines how Ebid would be beneficial to their readers.
Maybe EBid has already done this in the past. But with the current mood, it may be a good time to do this again.

A fresh angle could be something like - "Since Ebay's price hikes, Ebid's listings have jumped threefold overnight"...something like that if you know what I mean...just thinking aloud.

That's a very good thought - the number of shops open over here did make an enormous jump.

I'm sure there are lots of ways to gain free positive publicity.

Just the emigration from 'over there' with free listing is a great start.
+ free shops
+ promote your auctions

- press conferences, press parties
- some sort of freebie/incentives for people from the press to get them excited about this site.
- regular members get-together evenings to exchange ideas/namecards

generally anything that helps to create a buzz and make Ebid stand out from the crowd of other auction sites.

However, do feel it would only work if Ebid had a designated person in charge of press/publicity to "hold" it all together and steer it in the right direction as it were.

Anyone else with ideas please add. The guys at Ebid have shown themselves very willing to listen to their customers! :-)
