Default Using Bulk edit to add text to HTML script - idiot instructions needed!

Now my domain website has it's own SSL certificate, I need to update the image links I use in my eBid listings from http to https.

As I've never had to do this before, how do I do it using Bulk Edit ?

I have over 2,700 listings so doing them one by one is not an option!

It's been a couple of years since I've done this but if memory serves correct (doubtful!) you could try "find http" & then "replace with https",or does that only work in notepad?

Admittedly I am a bit out of touch but I would agree with Blue. Just create a bucket containing all your listings (by not specifying any selection criteria on the first Bulk Edit page) and then do a Replace of http with https

As always, before you start, export all your listing as a backup in case anything should go awry.

Thanks also for the tip re: backing up my listings as I'm due a hard rive backup today anyway.

If you do it in two batches then you will not be able to run the same parameters a second time. If you did then those you have already changed from http to https would then become httpss.

You would need to work out a way to get Bulk Edit to ignore the listings already altered. Or run again changing httpss to https.

    Additional thought...

If you change the parameters to replace http: with https: (i.e. adding the colon to both) then you should be able to run in multiple batches with no issues.

I would do it via each section in my stores so as not to mess up a larger number of listings - hopefully.

Ok, that would be a solution. The simplest solutions are usually the best. I was maybe over-complicating things by thinking you would be running on all listings each time.

So far, so good - just 2,689 listings to go

Why is this necessary? Wouldn't the http links still work?

And if they really don't, couldn't you just have an Apache rewrite rule on your web site to redirect http to https? (If not Apache, whatever server you're using).
