This is going to be a VERY steep learning curve
Realising that there is stuff to learn is the biggest hurdle!

I will usually be able to answer stamp questions but I started collecting when I was 7, my father ran a stamp shop and I only stopped collecting in about 1998.
I don't, of course, know everything but, between us, the stamp sellers on here can probably teach you what you need to know.

2nd lesson for today - definitives with this portrait on them are called Wildings (again, after the artist who was Dorothy Wilding

No decimal Wildings apart from a few commemoratives issued on anniversaries- only £sd, however Machins come in both flavours.

This one was issued as part of a miniature sheet in 2002 to commemorate 50 years since the first Wilding Stamps. The Stanley Gibbons number for the whole sheet is MS 2326. There were other issues to commemorate the first issue of Wilding stamps.
    Hope this helps

Yes, those were are special issues from 1998 onwards - booklets & miniature sheets not the original Wildings.

Tony, I'm grateful for ANY help, believe me

I think I am going to regret ever starting this.

So, presumably they are not worth listing singly?

It depends - I check sold items on the dark side to make the decision - most mint decimals I just use.

Yes, I think they are probably worth more to me as postage.

Thank you, Madelaine. Your help is very much appreciated but I will try not to ask too many questions
