I seem to have a steady supply of 1967 pennies and halfpennies in unexpectedly good condition. Is there something odd about this date?

It was an issue year for both coins (not all coins are minted each year) and a lot of pennies were issued that year; the most in an issue - the last proper issue. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penny...-decimal_coin)
The sheer number in the issue means there are more of them within the denomination. Why they should be in be in better condition than others? Maybe because it was not that long until decimalisation and less circulated.

That makes sense of it - I suspect that some of mine were deliberately hoarded as momentos - now they have been donated to the Hospice

Hi the reason for a lots of 1967 pennies and halfpennies was they minted pennies in 1968,1969, 1970 with the 1967 date on, mintage for 1967 pennies was 654,564,000 million. mintage for 1967 halfpennies was 146,491,200 million hope this will help.
