    Default Re: Google Analytics

I don't know if this helps as me getting google analytics going was nothing short of a miracle but deno told me not to use the HTML in the drop down but to use the source code box as it was easier it also seemed to work better for me.
    Good luck

many thanks for the comments, havent checked them yet but if correct it seems my concerns are misplaced.

anyone able to comment on my other points about how to run google analytic reports and then interpret those reports to make adjustments in listings to boost viewings and sales.

likewise anyone have any comments on the points about adding the word exempt on the barcode and converting listings from auctions to buy it now.

    much appreciated

In the near future we'll be adding the removal of the "Added By the Seller" text when a listing closes.

really would like to know what reports to generate and how to interpret those reports on google analytics. i see a large number of 1 visit wonders who don't seem to view any pages and are what presumably meant as bounce, what can i do to stop these people who presumably are visiting by mistake, is there a word the are searching that i possibly shouldnt be using. i would like to know if i can identify what words are making people view.

would also appreciate people thoughts on whether to use RUS or buy now with or without offer and whether to add the word exempt.

looking forward to hearing from people.

    many thanks

I wouldn't overly worry too much about running reports - the basics give a good overview.

The one page wonders - there will always be a few. The bounce rate is never going to be a true bounce rate because the logical next place for the visitor is to your shop - and as you cannot put the code on the shopfront then a 100% bounce would be recorded.

However if I was to make an observation on your listings - I can see why a customer would indeed bounce and why you would get a lot of 'one visit and leave wonders':

    Free postage...?

I would imagine that the stamps category has the highest level of multiple purchases per customer. So an important criteria for the majority would be combined postage - with free postage there isn't any.

So say I want to buy 20 stamps - I know that the postage is built into the cost price of the item - so say a 2nd class stamp @50p on each listing. So 20 x 50p and I am paying £10.00 postage.

I personally wouldn't purchase at that cost.

In my view it would be far better to have a postage charge, clear comments about combined shipping and to set up instant checkout so that buyers don't have to wait for invoices, they can just buy 20 stamps and pay straight away. Hassle free shopping.

I've done that and it works very well except for the odd buyer who buys one item, pays for it plus postage, then buys another, pays for it plus postage and so on and so on. Yes, I've actually had this happen

Yep - there will always be a percentage that will do that, but it is fairly low, I get a couple a month. It is a great system though and more sellers are changing, only last week I provided tailored instructions by the request of another large seller to enable them to use MIC.
