So enjoying this armchair travelling (apart from the snakes!)
Fascinating!! I'm realllly enjoying seeing the sights, and enjoy the variety of subjects they capture!!
Also, interesting last shot on Buckle.....family name from back in my genealogy research....I wonder if he was a relative?

Back in their original hotel in Colombo "The Shalimar" this time room 202 & with a front balcony to main street, Bro & Sil were able to have a perfect view of the Buddhist Navan Perahera Festival which can only be described as bizarre.
Lots of drums, horns, fire works, large religous image carried by truck, & not to mention 2 men suspended by metal hooks through the skin of their backs & legs from coconut tree jibs, being swung back & forth by attendants!
Plus many Elephant dressed in all their electric finery.
Sorry no pix of the swinging men, Bro got video only of them which is too large to upload from the blog.
Hope the following pix will suffice?
Our heroes are currently enjoying the air-con & resting up in preparation of the long flight home shortly.

Birdmen???
And now the Elephant
I've seen this pink one on many many occasions
Training who? the rider or the elephant? But great pics as usual. Thank you for sharing
Well I hope everyone enjoyed the trip & thanks for following along.
I know I've learned a few things of this part of the world on the journey & have seen things I would never be able to get to by my old pins alone.
Bro & Sil are most likely in the air as I type heading home & will no doubt need a holiday after those efforts?
Below is bro's last blog entry with attached pix of their last day in Colombo (spread over 2 posts)
Hopefully the eBid brand was spread around a bit, even though it is now covered in monkey urine! hahaha
Well this is our last day in Sri Lanka & we spent it wandering through the Pettah Markets in Colombo before heading off to experience the high life at the famous Galle Face Hotel.
A not too pricey lunch overlooking the pool & the sea was most enjoyable.
This aging but elegant pile was built in 1864 & has catered for royalty & the rich & famous ever since.
We were joined by a couple of enterprising squirrels who have obviously learned how to benefit from tourists.
We are off to the airport around 11pm & after a brief stopover in Singapore are due to arrive in Brisbane at 7.30pm on Tuesday the 18th.
We don't enjoy this flying bit, but it has to be done.
See ya.

In? on the green
But wait - is that Lord Bro & Lady Sil in the background?
Back to western fare!
Contemplating the return to work - not likely! Yet anyhow.
The Siberian Hamsters arrive
"man in shop say he filigreed"
Watch out, they sneak up on ya burgers
market pix next post:-

Bro arrives
I think this crow followed him all over S/L
To the Goddess of fruit & veg??
Man - they look hot!
Fortunately, one could cool off with sweet pineapple
Barring any last minute or airport shots "That's All Folks"
Thanks for joining in the fun & games.
I wonder where the next exotic destination will be??? (I'll keep you posted)
Cheers, Allen.
Really enjoyed the trip, many thanks for sharing and brightening up a dull winter
Hope Bro and Sil have a safe journey home.
Both arrived home safe 'n sound & will continue to catch up on sleep today I'm guessing.
One more week on hols, & it's back to the grind for Bro!
