Hi John,
I tried the program you suggested for linux but still learning the terminal & commands to run the programs, it found one of the missing partitions but not the other.
So I went back into windows & used the program partition assistant, it can be found here http://www.disk-partition.com/ I used the standard free edition which is loaded with features & no speed restrictions like some free programs. It found both of my lost partitions & I was able to restore them.

That's interesting, glad you got it sorted. I wonder if it would be worth contacting the Cgsecurity guy, most open source authors are very keen to improve their programs. He might suggest a way to print the characteristics of your partitions to give him some clue why it overlooked the second one.

"still learning the terminal & commands..." Do we ever stop? Do we ever reach a stage where we say "That's good, now I know it all!". Admittedly you could sit down with a thick manual and study for weeks, but few of us do -- much easier just to learn a few commands for the job in hand, get the job done, move on. It's like learning English -- I still find new words I've never heard of before, and go and look them up if they sound useful. Nobody ever sits down with a dictionary for a month and learns all the words beginning with 'A'!
