Default Missing button that posts auctions on Facebook

I was reading a forum thread about posting auctions on Facebook. My auctions used to have a share it button for Facebook, right under where the count down clock is. I see other social media buttons.

In the thread, at least one of Ebid member said that they still see the Facebook button on their auctions.

It is a glitch that I can no longer see the Facebook button?

    I am using IE8.

Looks to be an issue in all versions of IE. The button is there (i.e. in the code), but not showing when the page is displayed by IE (all other mainstream browsers are fine)

Microsoft IE will screw up the best of pages. IE should be wiped off the face of the Earth. IE causes more problems for coders than anything else - and also holds back the development of the web.

Don't pull any punches, tell us as it is...

But yes, I have to agree, IE is a monster that should be put out of it's misery - no problems with Firefox or Chrome, both much better at their job than IE

At the time of writing I had just spent (yet again) several hours trying to make something look the same in IE that every other browser displayed just fine - so I was quite a bit hacked off with IE. I do hate its lack of conformity to standards though, the amount of work that it takes to pander to its quirks, and that even its latest release is generations behind other browsers.

Look at any web page code and it's:

    If IE6 do this...
    If IE7 do this...
    If IE8 do this...
    If IE9 do this...
For everything else in the whole wide world do this...

I also think it is the only browser where you have to allow for such old versions still being in use. The majority of browsers I think you are pretty safe that users may be one revision behind the latest release, but a lot of IE users are still on version 6 - which Noah had installed on his abacus. Though I think even MS are dropping support for IE6.

Do you not have a fondness for Internet Explorer then?

I only use it when I top up my electricity meter as the site isn't Google Chrome friendly.

Whatever did I say to give that impression. Admittedly, IE9 is reasonable, but still lags behind all other major browsers.

If the site has been written with IE as a baseline, then it likely doesn't work properly in any other browser but IE.

I write with Firefox as a baseline. 99.9% of the time the code will then work in any browser, be that under Windows, Linux, or Mac. Then starts the joy of going in and making it work under IE 9 and 8. If it 'looks' Ok under IE7 I am satisfied with that. IE6 I don't care about - not bothered whether it works or not.

I think it's time all coders stopped pandering to people that are still using outdated browsers. Then the users of such might update their systems when they find the web doesn't work for them any more.
