Can you do the 'split' you want in your shops and/or list by A-Z Artist? Could do A-Z for Male, Female, Groups, Choir whatever once you get them in to the shop....

Sort of agree, but I think we do need some categories. But seems ROCK is better than having it split many ways.

Some still left out or under different names. i.e. no Celtic category, which in US is listed under WORLD MUSIC-CELTIC in our stores.

Proposing lots of changing means that if the changes are approved, MANY CDs will be in the wrong category. That would need to be corrected fast or they run risk of being pulled. Do you really want to have to make lots of changes just for the sake of having many many neat little categories within music?

If something is in "other" at the moment and a correct category is then added, items are not pulled because they are in "other"

At the end of the day it's up to HQ what they want to add / not add, I just make what I feel is appropriate category suggestions based on a buyer view and seller view, it's on a public forum and as such I don't expect everyone to agree and like to have discussions if it's a bad / good idea.

One thing to remember is that one of eBid's points that they get across in a newsletter is how many categories there are on eBid

I already do artist A-Z amongst other things, but I still think a buyer would browse by genre more than browse by other

No, I haven't - but I would be looking for names I knew - then I would look through the other names to see what else I could see (perchance buy ) and might give an 'unknown to me' a try... but everyone shops differently so the more ways of finding things the better.
