Ads for Auctions on other sites...

smallClic has huge banners across the bottom of some of the pages obviously "random" selections but not what we want, now is it?

I was listing Philatelic items and I get a link to stamp auctions.

I'm sure in the past that we have been told that ads in direct competition would be removed from the cycle.

I think it's more where you've put it. There's a general moan going on in the KT, which is getting plenty of attention. But this is the glitches forum, and it's not a glitch. It's what the site is supposed to do, according to the people who own and run it.

I suppose you could put it in the suggestions forum, but I wouldn't hold your breath if I were you.

I would prefer not to have adverts around my items that are in direct competition, but it's pretty much normal for web sites these days, and I'm not convinced they have a huge impact. Most people either literally or figuratively block them, I suspect.

I'm also aware that certain compromises have to be made in order to maintain the site fees at the level they are.

That would be nice to know about before we fork over our money to sell on a site that uses our auctions to push sellers to another site to buy

Surely there are many more types of ads they could get that ones to other auction or retail sites !

Adverts have always been shown here, surely? It's not new. So it was on the site before you signed, wasn't it?

I put it here because in the past we were assured that ads that were in direct competition with ebid would not be accepted.

I've moaned on KT as well.

No, I don't hold my breath - this is a business. I have a business relationship with it. The fact that I've been here long enough to remember requests "to click on the banners because we need the revenue", means that I've had to learn not to be sentimental about this place or any other auction site and learn that the hard way.
