    Default Question for book sellers?

Anyone know if James Herriot signed many books?

Only I have a paperback copy of one of his books, and just discovered he has signed it.

I've had it for years~~ and just noticed.

It is NOT for sale, but I'm just curious.

I used to live just outside Thirsk when James Herriott (or Alf Wight as he was really) was still a vet.. just. If you turned up for the Wednesday afternoon surgery there were more people with books than with animals. He seemed slightly surprised when I just wanted him to give our dog her annual boosters. The local bookshop always had signed copies available (at the normal retail price). I very soon learned to direct tourists to the vet's surgery and the church and various other landmarks in the book. Everyone in the town could tell you where they or their shop was mentioned in the books.

Now you have me wondering if he based any of his characters on you~

I would loved to of met him. I've read all his books.

I would never part with any of them.

No, I'm not in the books.. wasn't there for long... unless there is a strange woman who brings a dog in to be vaccinated when everyone knows that Wednesday afternoon is for book signing!
