Best offer option ??

I am not a fan of Best Offer - no-one in their right mind pays the asking price if that is on the listing. But.. this is in the wrong place on the forum. It is not a category request.

Best Offer option is long overdue.
Would be great OPTION for those who want it.
Those who don't want it need not use it.

I'm for it. I've been experimenting on the other side and, as far as collectables are concerned, I find it works well for popular items with known value. For buyers, the possibility that someone else may make an offer can produce some sense of ugency.

Sometimes Best Offer is good but some buyers always have something negative to said if you dont accept there offers..

I would like to see best offer as a selling option to fixed price on this site- I used to sell a lot of odd and large items with best offer on the "Other" site. It was a good way to get a handle on the worth of an unusual item. I do believe a certain segment of buyers like to "banter" back and forth on price..

Just another way to transfer sellers- and therefore buyers, away from the sinking fleebay site..

Best Offer.
Just have it as an option, just like Buy It Now. Use or don't use, personal choice.
It works for me elsewhere as a buyer and seller.
Different strokes for different folks.

The best offer option was always very successful for me when I had a comic shop on feebay, as was mark down. Unlike a lot of the other Ebid sellers I have met, I closed me feebay shop and invested completely in Ebid. I would love to see it prove itself as the better site. Its not happening yet though!

I have been having exactly the same experience when I hand out publicity.

The problem is, if the name gets changed, eBid would be back to zero!

That's only the same from the seller's point of view. A lot of buyers enjoy "doing a deal" and feeling that they've got a good discount out of the seller by means of their clever negotiating. Paying the asking price, however reasonable, simply doesn't give them the same satisfaction.

I agree. I feel the same way when I haggle someone down for anything, anywhere (on-line or in person). It's sort of like buying an item on sale, rather than at full price. If I can get it for cheaper I may even buy it even though I had no intention of ever buying it! Like you said it gives satisfaction and I'm certain that if eBid provided some sort of haggling option it would greatly increase the buying experience and provide more sales to the sellers.
