What is the best/quicket/easiest method for removing stamps from the envelopes they came on?
This is my tried and tested method:
Cut/tear around stamp with bit of a margin. Fill a shallow plate with COLD water and place stamps - STAMP SIDE UP - on the water. Leave until they either come off or the paper is soft enough to peel off. Don't rush it.
Works most times.

Sadly Australian stamps now have "Tear Outs" and are very difficult to remove from paper and plastic which is becoming more common for packages in OZ.
It is now fairly common practice for most countries to issue "self adhesive stamps" they are much more difficult to remove. The method love-to-stich says is a pretty much tried and tested method, you can get special drying books from any decent stamp shop.
Hi
The best method I have found is to soak the stamps as previously mentioned. With self adhesives, place them in a bowl of water with lemon juice slightly tepid and leave until cool. Gently peel from paper and use unperfumed talcum powder (calcium carbonate) to soak up any remaining adhesive. Works 90% of the time.
All the best,
John
