    Default Using Cyrillic Script

There are times when I would like to use Russian script in my listings.

For example, when I am listing the yak-24 helicopter stamp, it may also be recognised by its russian name, Як-24.

Can I use ASCII code for the Russian letters? If so, how would I enter it in my listings?

eBid's pages are charset=utf-8 so should display the letters OK

I'm not sure if you can use the ascii code or whether you would need to use the xhtml equivalent,
from problems in the past, I'd suggest the XHTML if at all possible, the editor has been known to throw up some wobblies otherwise.

you would probably need to add it to your listings using the plain text editor.

I have solved part of the issue myself.

If I bulk upload from a spreadsheet then Russian characters do not load.

If I then edit the faulty listing, then the Russian characters are fine.

So, a problem exists specifically in uploading from a spreadsheet.

Any ideas how to fix this folks?

wouldn't worry to much Bill.... I sell a lot of Yak aircraft / helicopters to russia (on my other site ;-) ) without any problems.... so I presume they use Yak when searching.

Given past problems, I would make sure at least one listing was set to 3 days, & see what happens when it auto reposts, as your next step.

If all is fine it's just a problem with the bulk upload.

The system has been known to act strangely when using unusual characters,
recently I had 2 listings that were suddenly cut off, it wasn't just the text but all the XHTML too.
They were fine when posted, the problem appeared after the repost.
I worked it out that it was the ae ligature after the D in Dæmonifuge causing the problem.
I've edited them now to use æ (Dæmonifuge) in the XHTML view & all seems fine (so far)
