I'd exchange before I left home, that's what I did when I visited the UK in 2000, it saves worrying about it later.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

When I lived in the UK I traveled quite a lot and I found the safest method of carrying currency was using traveler's checks in the currency I needed for the country I was visiting.

I use ATM on arrival, because it is OK, if not the best, and I never have too much money in my pocket.
Post Office and M&S in UK can be good.
Never found that traveller's cheques are value-for-money

Hi Tony, we always take cash in Euro's.
I think that you will find that the post office offers the best exchange rates - especially so if you purchase online before you go.
They send the euros the next day or so.
We always take English cash too - and you have to find out the best place to exchange it for euros.
We also have a Santander bank account - so we can draw out cash in Spain whenever we need it - no interest.
