Reading the initial post of ebid being 4th in the list, its still 4th and the gap between it and the ones above has grown considerably.
People just aren't listing in significant numbers.
I wonder why.
Actually, we HAVE been adding listings regularly. But then people buy things from us. The nerve.
Now that the boyz have finished housecleaning absentee sellers, it seems to me that whenever there's a drop in the number of total listings, that's the number of sales minus new listings. It's going to be hard to get to second place if people keep buying.
The fact is I've stopped paying attention to eBid's "ranking". We'll be back up there eventually.

Have they? It's a lovely idea, but do we know they've got rid of all (or at least all those easily identified)? I haven't looked lately, perhaps I'll have a paddle!
I haven't seen any complaints for a while, and I know there was a large drop in numbers while they were doing it. Of course, I don't check very often any more, so I could be wrong. I was judging by the sales in our stores, which are steadily going up. At one time I thought we'd get to 6,000 listings, now I'm not so sure.
I've quit checking the PSU site as it is skewed...until they start counting ALL of eBids total listings as compared with the other sites....
Oh yeah...and I'm still listing!!
The point is that in a year a couple of the top few alt sites have gone up in listings by about 1 million.
Ebid is still stuck on the same figure as it was a year ago.
Those sites get new members and sell things, and so does ebid, but we don't seem to be growing.
I believe the number of listings a site has is important in the choice a sellers makes as to what site they join up to.
And the more listings, the more choice for buyers.
(and iwi60, I know what you are saying, but I still don't think the total number is growing.)
,Thats true julie, however you look at it ebid is getting left behind.I hope it's not going to be like the Ford Edsel, good product,no problems or faults but just didn't catch on.
I would think that the next 2 months would be for eBid to spend some $ and do an advertising blitz to attract disgruntled eBay sellers.... and buyers.
eBay is isolating its small sellers, so whoever does their best to attract them will gain in the long run.
